History
Since 1946, River Garden Hebrew Home has been a caring community
providing service to older people. The primary mission of River
Garden is to respond to long-term care needs in a residential
setting while supporting all aspects of Jewish identity and
activity. River Garden is also a leading provider of convalescent
and short stay rehabilitative care. The availability of respite
care, hospice care, adult day care and geriatric assessment/counseling
makes River Garden a social service resource to the entire community. |

| Serving older people
with Jewish needs was an original goal of the Ladies' Hebrew
Sheltering Aid Society which was founded in 1922. With the
purchase of land and a house in Riverside in 1946, River Garden
Hebrew Home was founded. From the beginning the home served
people with special Jewish needs as well as others with special
care needs from the greater Jacksonville community. River
Garden quickly developed into a model of excellence in long-term
nursing home care. In 1955, 1963 and 1969, the Home was modernized
and enlarged. In December of 1989, the home relocated to its
present location in Mandarin. Situated on a beautiful 35 acre
campus, the Home continues its rich tradition of excellence
in care and service. A long-term commitment to excellence
in care plus a variety of social, cultural religious and recreational
programs help to make River Garden a Gold Seal Award winning
community.
River Garden is fully licensed by the State of Florida and
certified for participation in Medicare and Medicaid.
Location
River Garden is located on a beautiful 35-acre Mandarin campus
in Jacksonville, Northeast Florida. Lake Lea and landscaped
grounds provide residents, their families and friends a respite
from the outside world.

Conveniently located in south Jacksonville, River Garden
is easily accessed from Interstate 95 and 295, close
to shopping areas, medical facilities and doctors' offices.
Directions:
Exit off I-295 onto Saint Augustine Rd. Proceed south
approximately 1/4 mile and River Garden is located on
the left-hand side of the road. Please call if further
directions are needed.
