Turning Words into Visions and Visions into
Reality
Foundation
Mission
The River Garden Foundation is a philanthropic organization
established to provide resources for the programs and facilities
to enhance the quality of life for the aged. Its primary purpose
is to fund the not-for-profit River Garden system of services.
As an expression of Jewish and community responsibility,
the Foundation is dedicated to helping the elderly remain
in control of their own lives by assuring services to the
people at all levels of need and financial ability. |
|
|
The aim of the Foundation is to keep pace with the changing
needs of the aging through programs that meet a broad array
of health care needs, as well as provide a full spectrum of
residential options.
To ensure the success of these goals, the River Garden Foundation,
a not-for-profit organization, will solicit funds from private
and public sources. It will open a channel for local philanthropic
endowments, and seek grants for worthy research and service
projects. Sensitive to the needs of the Jewish and general
communities, the Foundation will use and distribute these
funds in a responsive and responsible manner.

|
| Each year, River Garden must raise over $1,000,000
to subsidize the care of residents under Medicaid for whom
payments fall far short of the actual and Medicaid allowable
cost of care. This amount must be raised through contributions
and special events.

The Annual River Garden Gala is a spectacular social event
that brings the community together in support of River Garden. The
funds generated by the Gala help underwrite the costs of caring
for the over 60% of the Home's residents who are on Medicaid.
The Annual River Garden Classic Golf Tournament benefits
the River Garden Geriatric Training Center by covering costs and
fees for students in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
who successfully graduate and come to work at River Garden for at
least one year.
In keeping with our mission to act as a valuable education resource
in elder care for the entire community, the Foundation has developed
a series of Community Forums with recognized authorities presenting
current developments in elder care. These forums, held four times
a year, are free and open to the public.
Endowments for Care: Named funds providing operating subsidy
for the majority of residents who are medically indigent.
Endowments for Programs and Services: Named funds subsidizing
specific medical, clinical, educational and therapeutic programs.
