2013 Golf Classic information

History and Mission

Each spring since 1997, River Garden hosts the Annual River Garden Golf Classic at Deerwood Country Club. The event is proudly chaired by Mark Lodinger (since inception) and Michael Price. This fundraising tradition brings together board members, corporate sponsors, and individuals from the community for a great day on the green. Players enjoy a fantastic day of golf in support of River Garden that includes lunch, a variety of contests, door prizes and an awards ceremony.

Golf Tournament proceeds benefit The Albert Z. Fleet Geriatric Training Center at River Garden.  The Training Center provides continuing education for existing staff and is also a Florida licensed not-for-profit postsecondary school offering classes to train Nursing Assistants.  Our commitment to continuous learning is part of our goal to provide the finest care for the residents of our Home.  We are dedicated to excellence in care and training, and our staff is the reason River Garden is an industry leader in Long Term Care and the recipient of an unprecedented 6 Governor’s Gold Seal Awards for Excellence in Long Term Care.

Since the first tournament in 1997, more than $975,000 has been raised. The tournament always has a full field of players, and continues to be a success year after year, thanks to the partnership and support of our corporate and individual sponsors. We are grateful to our many players, volunteers and donors that support the River Garden Golf Classic tournament.
