Mission

River Garden Hebrew home is dedicated to excellence in care and training.  This commitment to continuous learning is part of our goal to be “The best Senior Care Anywhere”.  The Albert Z. Fleet Geriatric Training Center at River Garden provides continuing education for existing staff and is also a Florida licensed not-for-profit postsecondary school offering classes to train Nursing Assistants.  The mission of the Training Center is to provide academic and skills training needed to provide competent assistive health care in a courteous and caring manner.

The education staff at River Garden’s Albert Z. Fleet Training Center is dedicated to the pursuit of self improvement.  We can always learn more, achieve more and benefit from the training offered at the school.

History

The Albert Z. Fleet Geriatric Training Center is an on-site postsecondary training school that was established in 1995 to provide academic training and skills for individuals to become Nursing Assistants.  The school provided an opportunity to meet the increasing need for CNAs in hospitals and nursing homes in the greater Jacksonville area.

Today the school provides greater learning opportunities by providing both initial and continuous training in our quest to provide the finest care for residents at River Garden Hebrew Home.  Our staff is the reason River Garden is an industry leader in Long Term Care and recipient of an unprecedented 6 Governor’s Gold Seal Awards for Excellence in Long-Term Care.

Nursing Assistant Program

The Nursing Assistant program provides classroom training and clinical experience in a long- term care facility to individuals enrolled in the school to become Nursing Assistants.    Students l have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills required to pass the State of Florida Certification Exam and function successfully at an entry-level position as a CNA in a long-term care facility or hospital. Certification is required for employment in long-term care facilities.

Nursing Assistant Classes

At this time, there are no Nursing Assistant classes scheduled for the remainder of 2012 and the class calendar for 2013 has not been determined.  Individuals are encouraged to monitor this website for the latest information as it becomes available. The school is located on the campus of River Garden Hebrew Home, a long-term care facility located in beautiful Mandarin at 11401 Old Saint Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32258

Ownership/Governing Body

The Albert Z. Fleet Geriatric Training Center is wholly owned, operated, and governed by River Garden Senior Services, 11401 Old Saint Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32258.  Senior Services also operates River Garden Hebrew Home/Wolfson Health and Aging Center (a 180-bed not-for-profit skilled nursing facility), The Coves (an 80-unit not-for-profit retirement apartment complex), and the River Garden Foundation.

The Albert Z. Fleet Geriatric Training Center at River Garden is licensed by the Commission for Independent Education, Tallahassee, Florida.
