River Garden Foundation Gala

The River Garden Foundation Gala is the major annual fundraising event for River Garden Hebrew Home, held in late Fall. The Gala raises significant funds, supporting an unparalleled experience and exceptional care for all seniors we serve with dignity and compassion.


Gala History

In 1993, the Board of Trustees of the newly established River Garden Foundation created an elegant community event that would promote the Foundation’s mission and provide philanthropic support for River Garden Hebrew Home. 

The first River Garden Foundation Gala took place in October 1993 at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel. Rochelle Proctor and Barbara Parker served as chairs for the black tie event, with Betty Boyer and Jan Allison as advisors. By word of mouth and because of a strong committee and generous corporate support, the event was sold out before the invitations were even mailed. More than 500 guests attended the “Phantom of the Opera.”

Thirty years later, the annual River Garden Foundation Gala has become known as a premier event in Jacksonville. It has helped educate the community about the unique nature of River Garden, its national reputation as a model elder care agency, and the special role it plays in our community.
