Volunteer Service

Volunteers play a vital role as partners in River Garden’s mission of being a caring community.

Our more than 100 volunteers, a diverse group of men and women coming from different backgrounds and cultures, have one common denominator – a personal commitment to serve others.

Volunteers enhance residents’ lives each day, whether visiting one on one with a resident, participating in programs and activities or assisting with special events and parties.

Our residents are at the center of everything. Our dedicated volunteers help advance our goal of ensuring our residents’ lives are as full, enjoyable and independent as possible.

Our volunteers are a dynamic group of men and women who clearly understand that they enrich their own lives even as they enrich others.

Registered Volunteers

These adult volunteers come into the Home on a weekly basis and help in virtually every area of the organization including assisting with activities, friendly visiting, mending clothing, manning the Gift Shop, performing clerical work, and transporting residents in wheelchairs.

Registered volunteers may also pursue Certified Volunteer status. The Certified Volunteer Program is open to all River Garden volunteers. This is an innovative program which makes the volunteers’ time even more valuable to River Garden residents and staff. Volunteers are given additional training in specialized tasks which require very specific skill sets.

Shabbat Volunteers
Teen Volunteers

The River Garden Teen Volunteer Program is designed for young people ages 13 – 17. This intergenerational program plays an important role in enriching the lives of our residents as well as providing a valuable life experience for our young leaders of tomorrow.
